Programme Note
Oxted and Limpsfield Music Society presents:
The award-winning Sacconi Quartet were formed in 2001. Their four founder members continue to demonstrate a shared passion for string quartet repertoire from Haydn to present day. The Sacconi enjoy a busy international career, performing regularly across the world, at Europe's major venues, in recordings and on radio broadcasts.
Ben Hancox plays a 1932 Sacconi violin and Robin Ashwell a 1934 Sacconi viola, both made in New York. Hannah Dawson plays a 1927 Sacconi violin made in Rome, and Cara Berridge plays a Nicolaus Gagliano cello from 1781.
Our Society is especially pleased that the The Sacconi Quartet are coming to perform here on February 26th as they celebrate their 20th Anniversary in this 2021-22 season.
The Neapolitan pianist Emma Abbate enjoys a demanding career as a piano accompanist and chamber musician. Described as "an amazingly talented pianist" by the leading Italian magazine Musica, she has performed in duo recitals for international festivals and concert societies in Austria, Portugal, Italy, Poland, and USA, and at many prestigious UK venues such as Wigmore Hall, Southbank Centre, Royal Opera House, St John's Smith Square and at the Aldeburgh Festival, in addition to broadcasts on BBC Radio 3.
