Immerse yourself in Brahms’ choral masterpiece, Ein Deutsches Requiem, in this enjoyable sing day led by our inspiring Music Director Tom Newall.
Fully wheelchair accessible venue, with free onsite parking. Easy reach from Manchester centre with bus and train stops nearby.
Refreshments will be provided in the breaks and a bar will also be available at lunchtime. Please bring your own lunch or alternatively there are cafes, pubs and a McDonalds a short walk away.
Music is available to hire (£2 payable in advance). We will be using the Novello English/German edition of the score.
Tom Newall is an experienced choral and orchestral conductor whose work spans a wide variety of genres and styles. He has been MD of Salford Choral Society since 2016. He was previously Music Director at Blackburn Music Society,and regularly guest conducted Ilkley and Otley Choral Societies. Tom founded Piccadilly Symphony Orchestra in 2014 to give young professional musicians experience in a high-quality ensemble and he also works regularly as a guest conductor with many orchestras in the north. He is the conductor for the ‘Young Explorers’ concert series for the RNCM. Opera is a particular passion for Tom and in summer 2018 he made his debut at Buxton International Festival. Tom is very dedicated to music education and has worked on a number of outreach projects for Blackburn Cathedral and Opera North.
