Programme Note

Haydn’s masterpiece and perhaps best-known work, is a depiction in music of the events of the book of Genesis; how God created heaven and earth, man and woman and all the creatures. Written for chorus, orchestra and three soloists, it has exciting and energising choruses and arias ranging from the dramatic to the ethereal, including the notable mention of the worm in the bass aria. With a dynamic line up of soloists, an orchestra of local professionals and St Ives Choral Society under their Director Alison Daniels, this promises to be an evening not to be missed!
