Programme Note
The poignant Adagietto of Mahler’s symphony was used to great effect in Visconti’s film adaptation of Thomas Mann’s novella ‘Death in Venice,’ but the emotional scope of the whole symphony is huge, with a fantastic finale.
The Adagio from the Spartacus Suite meanwhile will bring back memories of television’s ‘The Onedin Line’ from the 70s as it was theme song for the popular long-running series.
The concert will start at 7.30pm. Tickets £15 adults, £5 students/children, available via website www.huntsphil.org.uk, or on the door from 7pm.
