Programme Note
An evening of beauty and sparkle - string fireworks in the Town Hall
Next month sees the Hitchin Chamber Orchestra bring Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro to Hitchin Town Hall, a piece that features comfortably within most players’ Top Ten works for String Orchestra. It is an inspiring piece of music that ticks just about every box: virtuosic display; musical challenge; variety of sound and texture; extraordinary breadth of feeling and excitement, packed into under a quarter of an hour of through-composed music.
The concert will also feature music from Sweden, Italy, Russia (Tchaikovsky) and the USA alongside the home-grown achievements of Elgar and Finzi, the latter’s Serenade being an example of exquisite beauty.
Last November’s concert was a sell-out and this promises to be another popular evening in the Town Hall which is an excellent venue for such an event. Tickets for the concert which is on 4th November at 7.30pm are available from Hitchin Initiative, Eventbrite or members of the orchestra.
