Programme Note
The majesty of mountains — emblems of constancy in a tumultuous world, whose scale mocks humanity's delusions of grandeur — has long inspired poets and composers alike. Londinium's programme explores these lofty landscapes, journeying from the Welsh mountains to the Alps, Mount Vesuvius and the Himalayas, savouring both the view from their peaks and the rich contemplation which they inspire. Our repertoire includes atmospheric contemporary works by Judith Bingham, Kerensa Briggs and Gabriel Jackson, Renaissance gems by Monteverdi, Ribera, Rogier and Weelkes, partsongs by Bantock, Delius and Ireland, and Schumann's Vier doppelchörige Gesänge — the quintessential expression of the Romantic Sublime.
Tickets include a complimentary programme, and wine will be served in the interval.
