Programme Note
Pakefield Singers are proud to present "Majesty!", a double celebration marking both the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen and the 20th anniversary of this popular choir. The concert includes the choir's first performance of Mozart's Coronation Mass, regal and celebratory in nature and perfect for a grand ceremonial occasion. It showcases both Mozart's inspired choral writing and his instinctive genius when composing for the solo voice. Schubert's Mass in G major has a gentler feel and was composed in just one week by a youthful Schubert but demonstrating his greater musical maturity. A beautiful choral arrangement by choir member, Chris Upton, and well-known masterpieces from the singers' repertoire over the past two decades are included to make for a grand jubilant concert in the awe-inspiring surroundings of Blythburgh's church.
