Programme Note
Draw On, Sweet Night is a concert inspired by an English madrigal composed in 1608 by John Wilbye. Around this music we have created an intriguing and entertaining programme of songs relating to evening and night-time, with music from Wilbye's time to the present day. The concert includes John Rutter's Birthday Madrigals, songs by Elgar, Brahms and Eric Whitacre, and a selection of 20th century American popular songs.
Following the 2016 regeneration and development of Holy Trinity Church the 1926 Willis pipe organ is undergoing comprehensive renovation and redesign by organ specialists Harrison & Harrison. All proceeds from the concert will go to the fund to restore the organ.
