The concert includes choral music by Purcell and Holst, and arrangements of folk songs by Vaughan Williams and others. The concert is in aid of PAWS-GIST, a GIST Support UK initiative to improve treatment and find a cure for rare GIST cancer in young people (Charity No. 1129219). Founded in 2001, Cappella Nova is a chamber choir of around 25 experienced singers, based in and around Bath. Conducted by Tony Shield, we perform 3 or 4 concerts a year, usually in support of local or national charities, with a wide-ranging repertoire of sacred and secular music. ‘Fairest isle, all isles excelling … ‘

Inspired by Henry Purcell’s musical setting of words by John Dryden, our programme of songs and readings celebrates the heritage of our island nations through popular folk song settings.
