Wooburn Singers with the Bunny Thompson Trio

Add to my Calendar 20-05-2023 19:30 20-05-2023 21:30 36 Summer Jazz Beaconsfield-based chamber choir Wooburn Singers are thrilled that Iain Farrington, who composed the lively jazz organ music performed at King Charles’s coronation, will be attending their summer concert on Saturday 20th May at Holy Trinity Church, Hazlemere.The choir will be performing another of Iain’s recent works, his jazz cantata “Then Sing We All”, which was premiered last year. This joyful, energetic piece combines lyrics taken from 16th and 17th century poetry with modern jazz rhythms, and really celebrates the delight of returning to group singing after lockdowns led to a period of enforced separation.Not only an award-winning composer and arranger whose music has been performed around the world, including at many of the BBC Proms and Prince William’s wedding, Iain is also well known as a performer and even played the piano alongside Rowan Atkinson as Mr Bean at the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony!Accompanying the performance will be the Bunny Thompson Jazz Trio. Bunny has had a long and varied career as a pianist, with credits including Royal Variety Performances, several West End shows and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. He has performed with Wooburn Singers on a number of previous occasions, and the choir are looking forward to working with such a talented musician once again.As well as “Then Sing We All”, the concert will also include music for choir and jazz ensemble composed by George Shearing & Bob Chilcott, to provide an eclectic evening of entertainment that will leave you with a smile on your face!
