Musica Antica Rotherhithe
Programme Note
Uniting his works with the Italian masters that inspired him, Musica Antica Rotherhithe perform Henry Purcell's haunting sacred
scena In guilty night, alongside Luigi Rossi's little-known cantata Disperar di se stesso, before culminating in a semi-staged performance of some of the songs that earned him the title 'Orpheus Britannicus'.
MUSICA ANTICA ROTHERHITHE was founded by Jessica Eucker and Oliver Doyle in 2016 to bring regular performances of Early Music to South East London. Past programmes include music by Peri and Caccini, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater and a concert of arias by Francesco Cavalli hitherto unavailable in modern editions.
