Duruflé Requiem

One of the most powerful pieces of the choral repertoire

Add to my Calendar 04-03-2017 19:30 04-03-2017 21:30 36 Duruflé Requiem lluminare choir continues its series of concerts in Holy Trinity, Sloane Square, with a unique and unmissable programme. Providing the centrepiece to the programme is Duruflé’s Requiem setting based on ancient plainsong melodies which is accompanied by renowned organist Peter Holder, Sub-Organist at St Paul’s Cathedral, on the magnificent instrument in Holy Trinity. The concert also features the world premiere of Barnaby Martin’s The Temptations of Christ, which was commissioned by Illuminare choir. This dramatic piece sets text from Milton’s Paradise Regained and brings together soloists, two choirs, tubular bells and organ in what promises to be an exciting and inspiring first performance. We are delighted to welcome guest conductor Christopher Stark, Artistic Director of Multi-Story, to direct the piece. Christopher has recently won an RPS award for his work with the Multi-Story orchestra. Illuminare is a chamber choir comprising some of London’s finest singers. The choir was founded by Jeremy Cole in 2012, for a concert in Trinity College Chapel, Cambridge, where it performed several successful concerts before moving to be based in London. Past performances have included Bach’s St John Passion and the Cantata BWV21, as well as Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 in a concert with the choristers of Fulham Prep School and members of His Majestys Sagbutts and Cornetts. This concert has been kindly supported by St Paul’s School. Holy Trinity Church, London DD/MM/YYYY
