Undoubtedly Vivaldi's best known choral work is his setting of the Gloria. His many other choral works are less often heard. On this occasion, the choir will perform a setting of Beatus Vir (RV 597) and a setting of Dixit Dominus (RV 594). Both are masterpieces for soloists, double choir and double orchestra! The Concerto for two trumpets in C major continues the concert's 'Vivaldi on the Double' theme. The singularly beautiful Nulla in mundo pax sincera, a solo motet, will complete the Vivaldi line-up.As a special guest, the concert will also feature a Venetian contemporary, Tomaso Albinoni (1671-1751) and his Concerto for oboe in D minor.
