Programme Note
Step back into the grandeur of Tudor England as Luceat presents a liturgical reconstruction of the coronation of Elizabeth I. In the historic setting of Holy Trinity Church - where Shakespeare himself is laid to rest - we recreate the sacred rites and resplendent music that marked the dawn of the Elizabethan age. Drawing on contemporary accounts, period chant, and polyphony by composers such as Thomas Tallis and William Mundy, this immersive performance brings to life the solemnity, symbolism, and splendour of a defining moment in English history. Join us as we echo the prayers and praises that once rang through Westminster Abbey in 1559, celebrating a queen, a kingdom, and a new era.
