Programme Note

Pinsuti's concert celebrates Christmas with a wide range of music, including Howells’ timeless "A Spotless Rose", “The Christ-child” by Jackson, and the poignant "Lully, Lulla" by Leighton. We are delighted to have with us cellist Anna Beresford.  Anna, who is studying music at Manchester, manages the University Orchestra and conducts a number of ensembles there.  She will be playing selections from Bach’s Cello Suite in C major, and joining us for the exciting "Snow Angel" for Choir, djembe, piano and cello, by Quartel.  This is a stunning composition revealing the love, beauty and strength that a child's voice can bring to our troubled world.

There will also be some more frequently heard choral Christmas favourites, such as Cornelius’ “The Three Kings" with solo baritone, and the lovely Basque carol "Gabriel’s Message".

We hope you will join us for this enjoyable evening - no interval, but refreshments after the concert. NB start time 7pm.

Tickets are £5 on the door or from choir members (under 16's free).
