Opera Caledonia is delighted to present “Viva l’amore” (long live love) on Wednesday 14th February at the Institut français d’Écosse, Edinburgh – an evening of romantic operatic classics complemented by fine wine and chocolates.
International soprano, Judith Howarth, will be joined by Scottish pianist and conductor Derek Clark, Scottish Opera’s celebrated former Head of Music.
Together they will present a glorious evening of operatic classics and song featuring the music of Puccini, Verdi, Gounod and Mozart amongst others, set in the stunning surroundings of the Institut français d’Écosse.
Judith Howarth first came to public attention when she joined the the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden aged twenty one. She has since performed across the world at houses including Deutsche Oper and English National Opera under conductors incl. Claudio Abbado and Sir Colin Davies.
Derek Clark began his career at Welsh National Opera, making his professional conducting debut in 1981. During his time as Head of Music of Scottish Opera, he conducted more than 30 works for the company and is highly regarded across Britain as a conductor, pianist and vocal coach.
The evening will be complemented by fine wine and chocolates, all included in the ticket price and guaranteeing an evening of unashamed indulgence.
