Programme Note

Join Newcastle's leading amateur orchestra for a concert of contrasts and discoveries. 

Orchestral favourites sit alongside Finnish composer Rautavaara's 'Cantus Articus', subtitled 'Concerto for Birds and Orchestra'. This 1972 work incorporates tape recordings of birdsong recorded near the Arctic Circle and on the bogs of Liminka in northern Finland.
