Programme Note
The celebrated Rosamunde Trio – Martino Tirimo (piano), Ben Sayevich (violin) and Daniel Veiss (cello) – in a concert of one of Mozart’s most beautiful chamber works, the last of his six trios, then two versions of nineteenth-century romanticism, French and Russian. The last of Édouard Lalo’s three trios also shows his great admiration for the music of Robert Schumann. Tchaikovsky’s trio was written in Rome and subtitled ‘À la mémoire d’un grand artiste’, in reference to Nikolai Rubinstein, his friend and mentor who had died in 1881.
