Since the earliest times, humanity has been on the move. Some people move in search of new beginnings, and some are forced to leave their homes to escape conflict or environmental disaster.
This concert traces a journey across the Atlantic Ocean to America, inspired by musical reflections on real events, such as the ill-fated maiden voyage of the Titanic. With music by Eric Whitacre, Christopher Tin, Simon & Garfunkel - and Jaakko Mäntyjärvi's gripping tribute to a real-life modern shipwreck - this concert explores the question of who we are, where we come from, and where we’re going.
