Programme Note

Schumann’s beautiful Symphony No. 3, the "Rhenish" and Brahms' Fourth Symphony, which blends majestic pathos with moments of exuberant joy, form the centerpieces of Thames Philharmonia’s summer concert, celebrating the friendship of two great romantic composers. An atmospheric tone poem, The Enchanted Lake, by the Russian composer Lyadov will set the scene.
