Programme Note
Brilliant young violinist SongHa Choi, winner of the Senior 2nd Prize and Senior Audience Prize at the Menuhin Competition London 2016, joins Thames Philharmonia to perform Prokofiev’s violin concerto no. 1 - a youthful, lyrical masterpiece, blessed with one of the loveliest openings in the concerto repertory.
The concert also includes Faure’s charming suite of music for the play Pelleas et Melisande, and a rare opportunity to hear the highly original second symphony of the late-romantic Russian composer Scriabin.
