Programme Note

St Peter's Singers' presentation of Music for Good Friday is devoted this year to JS Bach's dramatic and moving setting of the Good Friday story, as told by St John. Sung in English, the story is narrated by the tenor Evangelist, with Jesus a calm and dignified presence amidst the frenzy of the mob and his rather flaky followers. All offset by songs that are by turn passionate, reflective, despairing and peaceful.

The performance will be sung in English, with an exciting cast of guest soloists joining us. In addition to Stephen Liley and Ella Taylor, it will be a great pleasure to welcome back Tom Hunt, son of the late Donald (former Director of Music here), to sing the role of Christ.
