Programme Note

St Peter’s Singers are thrilled to announce the first performance of an exciting new work by the brilliant and highly-respected composer Philip Moore. Tu es Petrus – a setting of words spoken by Christ to St Peter - was commissioned by the choir as part of their 40th anniversary celebrations and will be sung for the first time at their recital in Leeds Minster at 5.30pm on Sunday 24th June.

In the composer’s own words “The anthem seeks to illustrate the dramatic quality of the text.  To be told that you are the rock on which the church will be built must have been both terrifying and uplifting”.
