Mahler - Symphony No 2 (Resurrection)
Leeds University Symphony Orchestra returns to the Leeds Town Hall for another thrilling concert in aid of Lost Chord, this time performing Mahler’s second symphony, Resurrection. The concert also features the Leeds University Symphonic Wind Orchestra and Leeds University Chamber Choir, promising an exciting programme.
This turbulent Symphony conveys an explosion of emotions, enhanced by the energy of the orchestra featuring some of Leeds’ top musicians. Following the funereal opening movement, Mahler progresses through the different stages of life and death, ending with a choral finale of the hymn of resurrection.
Lost Chord is a charity that offers engaging and interactive sessions in a wide range of homes, aiming to engage with those suffering from dementia, whether in the early or later stages. Their support helps victims through music and drama. The Leeds University Music Society is proud to be working with the charity, performing such a spectacular programme.
