Starting with songs by father and daughter and their Florentine colleague (and fellow pioneer of the “new music”) Jacopo Peri, this quatercentenary programme follows through with works by Frescobaldi, Monteverdi, Grandi and Strozzi (whose later success as a female composer in a male dominated world was surely inspired by Francesca). In this first concert of Musicke in the Ayre’s 2018 season at the Museum of Bath Architecture, Din Ghani will accompany local soprano Maria Danishvar on archlute and baroque guitar (both of his own making).
