Programme Note
Marcos Madrigal is one of Cuba's finest young concert pianists, currently based in Rome. He has won many important prizes and major competitions and is making a solo debut recital in Dublin.
This programme displays an all Latin American theme, for which Madrigal has been awarded many international prizes (Jaen, Panama -Ginastera Prize)
He enjoys a busy international career in Europe and Latin America,and has performed as a soloist at Teatro Colón Buenos Aires, Auditorium Parco della Musica Rome, Queen Elizabeth Hall London, Auditorium Manuel de Falla Granada, Opera House Bucharest and Volkstheater, Vienna. He attended Master Classes at the Conservatory of Southern Switzerland in Lugano and at the International Piano Academy Lake Como, where he studied with Andreas Staier, Dimitri Bashkirov, Fou Ts'ong, John Perry, Malcolm Bilson and especially with his mentor William Grant Naboré.
Among his most recent recordings are Homo Ludens, with M° Leo Brouwer; Concert for Four Hands, with Cuban pianist Teresita Junco; the Opera Omnia for Piano and Orchestra of José María Vitier. His cd Ernesto Lecuona, Cuba, which was critically acclaimed and won numerous awards, among which are Choc de Choc de Classica (France), Melómano de Oro (Spain), Cubadisco 2016 (Cuba), and 5 stars Diapason (France).
