7 Star Arts presents quality classical music in the intimate surroundings of Cafe Yukari in Kew.

Composed in 1797, Beethoven's B-flat Trio uses the unusual combination of clarinet, piano and cello, but Beethoven published it in the traditional trio format of violin, cello and piano as he felt it would sell better. Tonight a chance to hear this urbane, relaxed Trio as he originally scored it, making use of the then relatively new instrument, the clarinet.

Written over a century later, Brahms' Trio in A minor also draws inspiration from the clarinet, but all three instruments are wonderfully integrated. Melancholy and autumnal in character, the Trio is restrained and concentrated, typical of Brahms' late style.
