The programme opens with two premieres: the first ever performance of Thomas Metcalf's Photogenia, specially written for the ensemble, and the UK premiere of Jean-Louis Agobet's Eclisses. The second half of the concert then treads more familiar ground with two pieces drawing on ancient sources. Epigrams, a piano trio by the American composer Elliot Carter, is modelled on the ancient Greek literary form.
