Helen Charlston is quickly cementing herself as a key performer in the next generation of British singers. She is acclaimed for her musical interpretation, presence and “warmly distinctive tone” (The Telegraph). Winner of the London Handel Competition for 2018, Helen was a founder participant of the Rising Star of the Enlightenment’s programme, working alongside the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment frequently as a soloist. She is a BBC New Generation Artist and a member of Les Arts Florissants Young Artist Programme (Jardin des Voix) for 2021/22 with whom she will sing the role of Rosmira (Handel Partenope) in a tour across Europe. Helen is a 2018 City Music Foundation Artist. Her much praised Isolation Songbook was commissioned in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic Lockdown, and released on Delphian Records in March 2021.
Natalie Burch is widely in demand as a collaborative pianist across London and the UK. She won the accompaniment prize at the 2015 Maureen Lehane Awards at Wigmore Hall, was a finalist alongside 2nd Prize winner James Way at the 2017 Kathleen Ferrier Awards and is a 2018 Britten-Pears, Leeds Lieder and Samling Artist. Much in demand as a song specialist she regularly collaborates with a number of award-winning artists.
About this film and OnJam Lounge
OnJam Lounge is a series of informal, intimate concerts designed for audiences to get a rare glimpse into musicians’ worlds and process.
Andrew Staples, director of the films, said: “OnJam Lounge sessions are special. They let you get close to world-class artists in a setting where everyone feels relaxed and creatively supported. This is bespoke content made for your screen but aiming to capture that essence of excitement that makes live performances unique. It’s unvarnished - yet highly polished.”
This film was produced by Emily Ingram for OnJam Lounge.
