During this COVID-19 spring, the reduction in traffic noise made more people aware of the beauty of birdsong. Yet in earlier times, birdsong was the ongoing soundtrack of everyday life, and musicians were deeply aware of its rich complexity. Recorder virtuoso Piers Adams plays some of the music composed in imitation of birds.

This year you can enjoy BREMF in the comfort of your own home.
Although we are not putting events behind a paywall, as we want to encourage curiosity from those who haven’t yet discovered what a fantastic range of music we cover, we are trialling V-tickets online. These voluntary tickets offer an easy way to donate in advance towards the considerable costs of making each of the 10 programmes on offer. We even offer a ‘season ticket’ for them all. Each programme is crafted for the screen and merges musical performance with film, images, animation and documentary presentation. Programmes will be online for a week, providing flexibility of viewing across the globe, while maintaining a festival feel with scheduled premieres on YouTube and Facebook.
