Programme Note
Members of Choir of the Earth met online in June, July and August 2023 for our popular Summer School, at which they learned a diverse range of pieces with Musical Director, Ben England BEM.
Singers then recorded their individual performances at home and submitted them to Choir of the Earth's talented and innovative audio engineers, who mixed the voices into a choir.
These international performances have been accompanied by stunning imagery to help tell the story of the pieces.
The pieces are widely varied in nature, from baroque Bach to contemporary Cage. They also include two world premieres, which have been composed for Choir of the Earth. The first of these is a fasinating Argentine tango completion of Mozart's Lacrimosa by Martín Palmeri that will have you dancing around the kitchen! The second is a truly beautiful piece by Patrick Hawes, with words by Andrew Hawes and Mark Strachan BEM - our own dear Founder. Pacis Et Caritas is inspired by the spirit and sentiments of the choral community that has grown around Choir of the Earth and its place in the world.
This online concert will be hosted by Ben England BEM on YouTube and absolutely everybody is very welcome to attend.
The link to watch the concert is: https://youtu.be/-CpFoVFtzJw
It is free to attend the concert but donations big and small are always very welcome to help Choir of the Earth reach more singers worldwide who could benefit from the choral opportunities and community we provide: https://choiroftheearth.com/donations-to-choir
ℹ️ Please note the running order of the pieces has not yet been confirmed
