Programme Note
You are cordially invited to attend our online concert, 'Choir of the Earth presents: Spem in Alium', on Thursday 28 October at 19:00 BST.
Spem in Alium is one of the 'must haves' in every choral journey. Latin for 'Hope in any other', Spem in Alium is a 40-part Renaissance motet by Thomas Tallis, composed in c.1570, and is considered by some to be the greatest piece of early English choral music.
In a unique approach to this complex and intriguing work, Choir of the Earth have partnered with the incredible Nigel Short and Tenebrae to learn and record Spem in Alium, with over 2,000 voices contributing to the final production! Could it be the largest ever recording of Spem in Alium..?
Join Nigel as he premieres Choir the Earth's rendition of this breath-taking work, with live conducting.
The concert livestream is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=if_NCuEqDpo
Whilst access to the concert is open to all, we kindly request a £5 donation for the Thomas Tallis Society, which can be made at: https://choiroftheearth.com/donations-to-thomas-tallis-society
Please join us and support our wonderful choral family at this exciting premiere. We look forward to seeing you there!
