Add to my Calendar 07-12-2019 19:30 07-12-2019 21:30 36 North London Symphony Orchestra: Sibelius, Brahms and Tchaikovsky For our final concert of 2019, we are presenting a collection of wonderful works including Tchaikovsky's joyful second symphony (the "Little Russian"); Brahms' violin concerto, widely recognised as one of the greats of the repertoire with soloist Maria Włoszczowska; and Sibelius' evocative tone poem "En Saga". Polish violinist Maria Włoszczowska currently lives in London and performs as a soloist, chamber musician and guest concertmaster worldwide. She is recognised for her versatile musicianship, having won the First Prize and Audience Prize at the XXI Leipzig International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in 2018, as well as numerous prizes at the XV International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition. In 2016 she gave her debut recital at the Wigmore Hall with pianist Alasdair Beatson. She has also collaborated in chamber music with Robert Levin, Philippe Graffin, Nobuko Imai, Maxim Vengerov, Dinis Sousa, Paolo Giacometti and the Doric String Quartet amongst others. Maria is the recipient of the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Emily Anderson Prize and she is supported by the Hattori Foundation and Poland's Minister of Culture and National Heritage. She recently completed her studies with Hungarian violinist and conductor András Keller.  The 2018/2019 season saw several international recital and concerto engagements including BachFest Leipzig, Thüringer Bachwochen, BBC Total Immersion, concertos by Bartók, Schnittke, Szymanowski, Mozart, Brahms, Wieniawski and Korngold as well as performances at international chamber music festivals.
