The Lydian Orchestra 40th Anniversary Concert

A celebration of the premier independent South-East youth orchestra

Add to my Calendar 17-07-2016 19:30 17-07-2016 21:30 36 The Lydian Orchestra 40th Anniversary Concert Premier independent orchestra in the South-East, over 1,000 young musicians have enjoyed the exceptional experience of playing in The Lydian Orchestra since its foundation 40 years ago.  Several Lydians and Lydian soloists have gone on to professional music careers, some reaching national and international recognition, such as cellists Alexander Baillie, Steven Isserlis, clarinetist Emma Johnson, French horn player Alec Frank-Gemmill, violinist Tamsin Waley-Cohen, and conductors Andrew Gourlay, Geoffrey Paterson and Nils Schweckendiek. Founded in 1976 by June Clements, the Lydian Orchestra provides unique orchestral experience for individual talented young musicians in Kent, Sussex and Surrey.  Unusually for a youth orchestra, it is managed by the older players themselves, assisted by a committee of professional musicians and/or parents, and it is independently self-funded.  These young musicians get together three times a year - Christmas, Easter and Summer holidays - for an intensive week's course and concert in the Sevenoaks/Tonbridge area.  We have much to celebrate in our 40th year – do join us this Sunday 17 July at the Pamoja Hall in Sevenoaks for what promises to be an outstanding evening of music and joy! www.lydian.org.uk Pamoja Hall - The Space Performing Arts Centre, Sevenoaks DD/MM/YYYY
