Programme Note
Trio Balthasar will play Master of the King’s Musick Judith Weir’s impressionistic Piano Trio, with movements wonderfully capturing Venetian atmosphere, an evocation of African light, heat and energy, and a deserted Hebridean scene.
Sally Beamish has very skilfully arranged Debussy’s La Mer for Piano Trio; it's recognisably Debussy, but feels like a new piece.
The evening concludes with Dvořák’s superb F minor Piano Trio, written after his mother’s death and built as a symphonic landscape.
