Programme Note

Celebrating the power, diversity and genius of women composers past and present, London Oriana Choir brings together guest choirs from around the UK for an evening of choral music, including a commission by Hannah Kendall.

Alongside London Oriana Choir, Edinburgh Singers, Southern Spirit Singers and Archer Academy reflect the breadth and depth of music and styles composed by women, which is now recognised and performed up and down the country. All the choirs come together at the end of the evening to perform the rousing finale.

This evening's concert represents the culmination of London Oriana Choir’s pioneering five15 initiative to champion women composers with new commissions, increased programming, workshops, recordings and an online anthology. Many of the commissions are performed by the choir tonight.
