Programme Note

Tynedale Orchestra is pleased to present its Spring 2024 Concert in the wonderful QEHS Hall. The price for the concert includes programme and refreshments. An exuberant programme includes Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture composed after a visit to Staffa. The Dvorak Czech Suite brings distinctive rhythms of folk music and asymmetrical folk-derived melodies. Finally we have a Beethoven Symphony. It is a great work that came between two revolutionary giants, the Third Symphony (Eroica) and the Fifth Symphony; it was once described as: "a slender Greek maiden between two huge Nordic giants."   This is lighthearted, youthful music, full of invention and unexpected turns.
