Programme Note

This concert marks the launch of their exciting new album of French Songs focussing on Caplet, Ravel, Milhaud and Honegger, released on Nimbus Records on the 3rd June. The concert will also include works to feature on their next album, focussing on Composers living in middle Europe in the first half of the 20th Century whose lives were changed moderately, drastically or cut tragically short by the rise of Naziism, including Viktor Ullman, Egon Wellesz, Gottfried von Einem and Richard Strauss, all of whom are united in their settings translations of exotic and foreign poetry, including Songs of the Orient, Chinese Songs and Hafis Settings.
