Programme Note

The programme opens with Butterworth’s A Shropshire Lad, a poignant orchestral rhapsody evoking the English countryside. Acclaimed pianist Ariel Lanyi will then take centre stage for Beethoven’s majestic Piano Concerto No.5, often known as the "Emperor" Concerto. The evening concludes with Vaughan Williams’ Symphony No.3 (A Pastoral Symphony), a profoundly expressive work reflecting on the landscapes and memories of wartime Britain.
