Programme Note
A popular fixture in the Rosehill calendar, this year's summer concert with pianist Anna Tilbrook will include Martin Owen, principal horn at the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and violinist Anna Smith, also of the BBCSO, in a programme including the Brahms Horn Trio.
Hertfordshire-born Anna Tilbrook is one of Britain's most exciting pianists, with a considerable reputation in song recitals and chamber music. Having studied at York University and the Royal Academy of Music with Julius Drake, she made her debut at London's Wigmore Hall in 1999 and has since become a regular performer at Europe's major concert halls and festivals.
Martin Owen is regarded as one of Europe's leading horn players, appearing as soloist and chamber musician all around the world. He currently holds the position of Principal Horn at the BBC Symphony Orchestra, having served as Principal Horn of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for 10 years, and from 2012-13 was contracted as Principal Horn of the Berliner Philharmoniker.
Anna Smith read music at St Catharine's College, Cambridge and then studied violin with Erich Gruenberg as a postgraduate scholar at the Royal Academy of Music. She has won awards from the Martin Musical Scholarship Fund and the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.
