Programme Note
At long last! A concert! Join the Royal Choral Society for their delayed annual performance of Handel's Messiah at the Royal Albert Hall.
The Royal Choral Society has performed Handel’s Messiah on Good Friday afternoon at the Royal Albert Hall annually since 1876, but performances for 2020 and 2021 had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, with the ease of lockdown restrictions, the choir is delighted to be able to go ahead with a socially-distanced performance of Handel’s masterpiece on Trinity Sunday, 30th May 2021 at 2.30pm.
The concert will be fully Covid compliant and the performance will follow government guidelines. The choir will be conducted by Royal Choral Society Music Director Richard Cooke and accompanied by Richard Pearce on the mighty Royal Albert Hall organ, while a quartet of superb soloists will complete the line-up. There will only be room for 800 in the audience due to social distancing regulations, so don’t delay in booking your tickets.
The Royal Choral Society is delighted to be performing Messiah in 2021 as part of the Royal Albert Hall’s 150th anniversary celebrations.
