Programme Note

Experience Rossini’s colourful Petite Messe Solennelle with a twist.  Salford Choral Society present a version with mixed voices, piano and accordion instead of the usual harmonium.

The most substantial of Rossini’s works, this piece offers colour and drama and vibrant rhythms throughout. The title exemplifies Rossini’s sense of humour, as the piece is neither small nor solemn!

The choir will also perform Palestrina’s Sicut Cervus, a polyphonic motet setting of Psalm 42, v1-3.
