Programme Note

Salford Choral Society will be joined by Children's Choir of MAPAS
(Music and Performing Arts Salford) for Orff's dramatic Carmina Burana, in the original exciting setting for two pianos and percussion. Brahms' Song of Destiny, one of his finest short works and Bartók's Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion complete a stunning programme.

Orff’s setting of pieces by medieval wandering students, is full of vitality, anger, splendidly earthy desires, revolt against the rigidity of medieval times, parody and lusty enjoyment of life.
