Programme Note

On Saturday 13th November 2021 at 7:30pm, in the heart of Sheffield, the walls of the  Cathedral will resound to the music of Beethoven, Chopin, Gershwin and Liszt played by British concert pianist, Jonathan French, under the warm flicker of candlelight.

‘French dazzled us all with virtuosity, tenderness, humour and sheer emotional transportation.’ Christopher Morley, Evening Mail.

This evening's concert promises to take the listener on a spell-binding journey of moods and emotions. Audiences will be treated to a programme full of poetry and virtuosic display, from Debussy's Clair de Lune, to Liszt's Rigioletto Paraphrase in addition to a number of celebrated works by Chopin. The evening concludes with Gershwin's ever-popular Rhapsody in Blue, with its powerful melodies, driving rhythms and glittering piano writing in this compelling kaleidoscope of jazz and classical influences.

So why not treat yourself to an autumnal musical treat on and join us for an evening to remember of uplifting music at Sheffield Cathedral, performed by this sensational British pianist.

Johnathan French
