Programme Note

Join the Oxford Philharmonic on UN World Environment Day for a concert of pastoral favourites, including evocations of the British countryside from Vaughan Williams, Delius and Oxford composer George Butterworth, alongside Vivaldi’s perfect representations of ‘Spring’ and ‘Summer’ from the ever-popular Four Seasons. The UK premiere of Michael English’s The Moonflower celebrates the life of the conservationist and botanical artist Margaret Mee, and her many expeditions to the Amazon rainforest to track down this rare plant.
