Opus 48

Programme Note

Opus 48 presents two of the absolute gems of the choral repertoire. Handel’s youthful and exuberant Dixit Dominus is a choral tour-de-force, virtuosic and supremely exciting from beginning to end. The Great Mass in C minor, Mozart’s sublime setting, packed with choruses and solos of operatic stature is surely one of the most beautiful choral works in the canon.

Opus 48 is joined by fabulous soloists, and some of the country’s best baroque orchestral players in the Musical and Amicable Society. Returning to the Sheldonian Theatre with the choir on top form, this promises to be an extraordinary evening.
