David Matthews has had a long relationship with Australia and after her successful concert tour there in August, Philippa is delighted to play his exquisite piece 'Four Australian Birds'. There is a Partita by George Vass, Conductor and Director of the Presteigne Festival and a Fantasia by Naji Hakim after a painting by Munch. The Prokofiev Solo Sonata adds Soviet spirit with the odd explosion of irony and grit to this selection of music chosen to show off the instrument and challenge the performer complemented by the lightness and verve of the two Telemann Fantasias in G and A major.
