Programme Note
Declared by La Monde as belonging to the ‘French cello elite’, Christian-Pierre La Marca has rapidly garnered a firm international presence, performing at major concert venues across the world. In this humanistic ode to nature, La Marca presents a wide-ranging programme based on the theme of saving the planet. As he explains, ‘music has the ability to awaken consciences, to make people more sensitive, without trying to convince or mobilize them. Music is a short circuit that goes straight to the heart.’ Interweaving several art forms – including film projections by acclaimed director and environmentalist Yann Arthus-Bertrand – Wonderful World highlights the beauty of nature while alerting us to the need to protect the world around us.
‘A new project that’s all about saving the planet. Bold ambition. Startling juxtapositions and profits from sales going to the GoodPlanet Foundation. Brilliant! (BBC Radio 3)
‘Christian-Pierre La Marca is a master of his instrument. A musician of lyrical elegance and good taste’ (Gramophone) ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
