Programme Note

Jennifer Higdon's Blue Cathedral is her most popular work; a tone poem for orchestra with solo flute and clarinet parts taking us on a journey from quiet peace to a feeling of celebration.   Ben Goldscheider (BBC Young Musician 2016) returns to play the solo part in Glière's Horn Concerto, and we finish with the amazing Fifth Symphony of Shostakovick which again brings a truimphal ending.
