Bach’s Jesu, meine Freude has a simple austerity that sits perfectly with its origins as a funeral motet, and Bortniansky’s music was definitely influenced by the Baroque. Nystedt’s epic Prayers of Kierkegaard follows, full of Nordic spices, and the concert builds to a dramatic climax using Hindu Temple gong and organ in Tavener’s Mother and Child. If you’re a first-timer, dip into over 400 years of singing. And even if you’re an expert, we guarantee you’ll hear something you haven’t heard before!
